Resist Today is a tiny artist collective making functional art products in sunny — and quite humid — Tampa, Florida.
Our images explore social and political imbalances, celebrate nuances in nature and aim to provoke thought and positive action. With friends and local Tampa artists, we curate as well as create original art for t-shirts, wallets, messenger bags, pillows, neck ties and fine art prints. We pride ourselves on being a small, independent and anti-corporate.
With so little public space available for art, some of us turn to a street sign, abandoned building or overpass; we think shirts and wallets are just as good a surface.

Our roots took hold around 2000–2001 in the art department at University of South Florida. Dave Rau and Josh Bertrand formed Red Labor, making fine art prints and digital goods. Several art and screen printing classes later we became close friends with Jay Giroux, Billy Tamplin, Brandon Dunlap and Eleanor Grosch. Around 2004 we printed our first t-shirts as a class assignment about making sellable art; weeks later start a company called Iron-On Resistance. That name wasn’t enough of a call to action or resistance, so around 2006 we became Resist Today.
